Certaldo: Old castle dated back to the 13th century for sale in Tuscany.This historically important property is situated in gorgeous panoramic position, immersed in the Tuscan countryside near the village of Certaldo.
The Origin: The first owners of the castle were the Farinata degli Uberti family. Afterwards it passed to the D'Asino family, whose progenitor was Pietro called the Asino (the Donkey) brother of the Farinata and captain of Manfredi, king of Naples. One of the last owners pf the castle was the powerful family Canigiani from which it descends one of the most important and influent poets of the Italian Renaissance: Francesco Petrarca.
Property: The castle for sale is a beautiful example of Medieval Tuscan fortress. It covers a surface of about 1340 square meters finely restored and divided in 4 levels.
